Update:         July 21, 2017   2 p.m.

Current Outbreaks:  ONE

  • River Heights Lodge, North Battleford - Respiratory Outbreak status REMAINS IN EFFECT for River Heights Lodge. The outbreak was declared on Sunday, July 16, 2017. The causative organism has been determined to be enterovirus/rhinovirus.  Outbreak precautions are in effect. All social and recreational activities are suspended until further notice. Visiting is permitted though all visitors must follow the guidelines and restrictions as identified below.

Visiting when an outbreak is declared in a facility:

Visitors play an important role in supporting patients and residents in health care facilities. Visiting may continue during outbreak situations. HOWEVER, we recommend that individuals reschedule their visits if at all possible, until the outbreak is declared over. Children under the age of six are strongly discouraged from visiting during an outbreak.

Individuals should not visit anyone in hospital or in a long-term care (LTC) facility at any time when they - the visitor - is experiencing symptoms of illness such as fever, cough, runny nose, vomiting, diarrhea, etc.

During an outbreak, visitors may be at risk of acquiring infection within the hospital or LTC home.

If you must visit, you must comply with the following:

  • Report to the nursing desk before visiting.
  • Use proper hand hygiene practices before, during, and after visiting.
  • Use proper respiratory etiquette.
  • Restrict your visiting to only your own relative or friend in their own room. Do not visit from one resident/patient to another.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) as directed (gown, procedure mask, eye protection, etc.) and remain in resident's/patient's room. Clean your hands with alcohol-based hand rub before putting on or after taking off the PPE.

If the facility is having difficulty controlling the outbreak, further visiting restrictions may be implemented.

Proper handwashing is the number one way to prevent the spread of illness. When you visit our facilities, please remember to wash your hands thoroughly and regularly - both before and after your visit.
