Service Disruptions in North Battleford and Meadow Lake

June 26, 2012 - 4 pm

Service disruptions continue at Battlefords Union Hospital and four rural Prairie North Health Region sites (Loon Lake, Goodsoil, St. Walburg, and Turtleford), due to power outages.

Patient care is being maintained with backup power from emergency generators, as designed. However, because of the power outage, there is no air conditioning in affected buildings. People are advised not to visit affected facilities as we work to keep the buildings as cool as possible.

Members of the public are advised not to come to Battlefords Union Hospital unless your situation is an emergency. The emergency department remains open.

Given the uncertainty around when the power will be restored, day surgeries, elective surgeries, and most outpatient appointments, including diagnostic imaging, are cancelled for Wednesday, June 27. Affected patients have been notified.

Outpatient lab services at both Battlefords Union Hospital and Prairie North Primary Health Centre (Frontier Mall, North Battleford) will be closed on Wednesday, June 27 as well.

Power has been restored at facilities in Meadow Lake. The next information bulletin will be issued at 10:30 am on Wednesday, June 27.
