
What is Strides?
Strides is an exercise program monitored by health professionals with a self-care management focus. Participants work with a team of healthcare professionals including registered nurses, a physiotherapist and an exercise therapist to provide education, exercise and self-management support. Participants are provided with a safe supportive place to build confidence, strength and skills.
Who is Strides for?
Strides is for people living with or at risk for Chronic Conditions including (but not limited to):
- Heart Disease
- Lung Disease/COPD/Asthma
- Diabetes
- Arthritis
- Stroke
What are the Benefits of Strides?
- Reducing further heart attacks - research has shown that attending a cardiac exercise program such as Strides is the most effective treatment for reduction of further heart attacks by as much as 23%.

- Improved balance and strength

Do You Need a Referral?
No. You can refer yourself to the program or you can be referred by your physician or other health care professional.
